CONJURING DESIGN Japanese Woodcut Tote Bag Trimmed in Handwoven Mudcloth & Vintage Art Deco Japanese Kimono Silk
I really enjoy creating totemic and shamanic bags. We carry the things we need every day in them and I like to have elements in each bag that bring shamanic energy into our lives. This one is very special and absolutely gorgeous. This is another wonderful Japanese Woodcut replica from the 1200s depicting a powerful woman. Since I love the Exoticism movement in the Art Deco design era thse really show all the elements of it. The Exoticism Movement was a fusion of African, Asian and other "exotic" design themes with the classic design lines created and celebrated in the Art Deco Era. I love merging the powerful handwoven mudcloth from Mali with the lyrical images of the Art Deco Era Vintage Japanese Kimono Silk. The lining is handwoven cotton ikat. The bag base is an upholstery weight art deco design fabric. The handles are made by an all woman artist cooperative that works in leather for a wonderful and supple handle which is 28" long. The inside is also grand. Lined in a Mexican striped cotton we have our signature interior pockets to make this bag really work for you. We have a loop and clasp at the top for your keys, an iPad pocket and other interior pockets as well that give you a place for things you need and use the most. The back of the bag has a wonderful deep pocket which is perfect to hold a notebook or magazine. This bag is 22" across the top with a heavy duty double zipper and it is 14" high. This is the perfect bag and a total conversation starter!
